Top Mobile App Categories During COVID-19

In this study, we looked at the Top Mobile App Categories during the COVID-19 outbreak. These apps were developed to support the health care sector, to contain the spread of the new coronavirus, and to facilitate movement among the population during curfews. Different categories of apps were created to perform various functions, such as educating consumers, promoting awareness, or providing online consultation. For example, we found that the diet and weight loss app ZOOM saw a massive increase in downloads from 2019 to 2020. Likewise, other, less obvious categories saw dramatic increases, including media and entertainment.
